How We Help

Financial Planning Services for Every Stage of Life

You need a financial strategy that actually works for your life, not a stack of disconnected products that may or may not fit together. We work with Maryland families, educators, business owners, and nonprofit leaders to coordinate all the moving pieces. Your retirement accounts, investments, insurance, estate plans, and tax strategies should work together, not against each other. Our job is to help make sure everything supports what matters most to you.

Financial Planning Services

We start by listening. Before we recommend anything, we take time to understand your current situation, your goals. Here are the core areas where we help clients make progress:

Our Process

Discover how we work with clients, from initial consultation through plan development and ongoing partnership. Our process ensures you understand every recommendation and feel confident in your decisions.

Retirement Planning

We help you coordinate all your retirement income sources: pensions, 401(k)s, 403(b)s, IRAs, Social Security, into a strategy that lets you retire when and how you want. Whether you're just starting to save or already in retirement, we make sure your plan accounts for where you actually are and where you're headed.

Investment Management

We build and manage investment portfolios tailored to your goals, timeline, and risk tolerance. Every investment decision is intentional—coordinated across all your accounts and adjusted as your life changes. We monitor performance, rebalance strategically, and integrate tax-efficient investment strategies across all your accounts.

Education Planning

We help families plan for education costs without sacrificing their own retirement security. From 529 plans to financial aid strategies, we coordinate education funding with your other priorities so you can support your children's future without derailing your own.

Tax Coordination

We work alongside your CPA to coordinate investment decisions, retirement contributions, and wealth strategies with your tax situation. We're not tax preparers—we help ensure your financial strategy accounts for tax implications and supports the work your CPA is doing to minimize your tax burden.

Succession Planning

For business owners, we help you think through exit and succession strategies years before you're ready to leave. Whether you're planning to pass the business to family, sell to employees, or exit to a strategic buyer, we coordinate your personal wealth strategy with your business timeline and goals.

Estate Planning

We work alongside your estate attorney to coordinate beneficiary designations, wealth transfer strategies, and legacy planning across all your accounts. Our job is to help ensure your financial plan aligns with your estate plan so nothing falls through the cracks and your wishes are honored.

Wealth Management

Comprehensive wealth management means coordinating everything including investments, retirement planning, estate strategies, insurance, cash flow, into one cohesive plan that adapts as your life changes. It's the full-service approach for clients who want all the pieces working together toward what matters most.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Financial Planning Services

  • What services do you offer?

We help clients with retirement planning, investment management, education funding, estate planning coordination, succession planning (for business owners), and wealth management that ties everything together. We also coordinate tax strategies with your CPA and help business owners and nonprofits establish competitive retirement plans for their teams. We're independent, which means we can honestly evaluate options without being tied to proprietary products or commission structures.

  • What does a financial advisor actually do?

We help you make informed decisions about your money. That means understanding your current situation and goals, building strategies toward achieving those goals, managing investments across your accounts, coordinating with your CPA and attorney when needed, and adjusting your plan as your life changes. We also educate, helping you understand the "why" behind every recommendation so you're confident in your decisions, not just trusting blindly.

  • How is your approach different from other advisors?

A few things set us apart. First, we're genuinely accessible. Our hybrid fee structure means we can work with you whether you're just starting out or have significant assets already. Second, we're independent, which means we're not tied to proprietary products or specific plan providers (except for Maryland educators, where we work within approved district providers). Third, we prioritize education over sales. We succeed when you understand your options and feel confident, not when we close a transaction. And finally, we have deep Maryland understanding and experience, particularly with educator pensions and benefits, which most advisors don't.

  • What is your financial planning process?

We start with a complimentary consultation to discuss your situation and see if we're a good fit. If we move forward, we gather information about your assets, income, goals, and concerns. Then we build a comprehensive plan with specific recommendations. Once you approve the plan, we help implement it by opening accounts, coordinating with your CPA or attorney, adjusting investments. We then provide ongoing support as your life evolves. The process is collaborative, which means you're involved in every decision and you understand why we're recommending what we recommend.

  • Do you only help with retirement planning, or other things too?

We do much more than retirement planning. While coordinating retirement income sources (pensions, 401(k)s, Social Security, personal savings) is a core service, we also manage investment portfolios, help families plan for education costs, coordinate estate planning with attorneys, work with business owners on succession strategies, and provide comprehensive wealth management that ties everything together. The breadth matters because your retirement strategy should integrate with your tax situation, estate plan, and other goals, not exist in isolation.

  • What does "fiduciary" mean?

It means we're legally and ethically required to act in your best interest at all times. This is the highest standard in financial services.
